Guess who's back, back again...

I'm back! Also, please do refrain from quizzing my Eminem knowledge. It is not my most well-known topic of facts but we get the drift, haha. Hello lovely readers and new visitors who've landed on this post alike! Happy 2023! I can't believe I'm only just saying that on here but it's been a little while since the festive period. Long story short,

vlogmas... a success, December... manic, last part of December... ended up with covid.

So all in all, things blog-posts-wise had to go on hold for a short while. Side note, if you haven't seen my vlogmas and would like to you can hop over and see my vlogmas 2022 playlist here! So, a Christmas post you say? Well in essence yes but not quite in all. In true recurring style, it's a Body Shop blogger's event blog post (about a month or so later! 🤣). I literally said to Ryan "my post will be up straight away this time". Oh how life laughed. Yes, just before Christmas I was a very lucky lady and The Body Shop Liverpool One very kindly invited me to another of their in-store beauty events for the festive, and winter I may add, season and this one was one of the most luxurious of them all - and very much the most persuasive in expanding my beauty wish list!

In classic old school blogging style, I wanted to share the memory of the event on here because... well it was just fun from beginning to end and the equivalent of being a child in a sweet shop for beauty lovers, of which I know those alike will love nothing more than a good nosey through all the lowdown, new releases, beauty goodies and exciting pictures from the event and products!

So, without further ado, prepare yourself for a summary of my night at The Body Shop blogger's Wishes & Wonders Event! (Swatches, product sneak peeks and all!)...

As hinted at above, this Body Shop event was makeup chocca-packed and there were new makeup product releases left, right and centre. It's no wonder my wish list had a small extension added onto the end of it! If you're quite the makeup fan alike you'll be much as excited as I was about some of the plethora of new products The Body Shop have released this season.

A rather spendy purchase has been made since thanks to this event because I could not restrain myself from the absolute abundance of excitement The Body Shop has brought to their revamped makeup range at current.

To begin this very warm-welcomed winter's evening of beauty, The Liverpool One team kicked off our evening with a glass of fizz or fancy orange! (I felt quite the VIP perusing around with my champagne flute of orange - I unfortunately did not reach the fizz in time as I was too excited about absolutely everything whilst also holding two cameras, photographing and videoing (ooo yes vlog here of the event also) and mingling between all the gorgeous girlies of the blogging world - Meg, Lauren, Daniella, Charlotte I'm looking at you lovely girlies!).

As with all the glorious events at The Body Shop *cough, cough... the best Body Shop of them all... cough, cough* we started the evening with a talk about the launch of this Christmas' Wishes & Wonders theme and their new releases for Winter 2022 / 2023.

First things first, makeup. There was A LOT of makeup news. And, to start with a bang as The Body Shop often do, all their new makeup releases are vegan! Yey :D

The Christmas / winter makeup releases for 22 / 23 were all about fun and colour, colour, colour. In the most versatile ways though. Not garish but fun for all, in all ways. We're talking rich pigments and deep natural tones, to light, fun pops of colour that you can dabble in subtly, really tying in with that "natural look" 2023 makeup trend, or that you can make as much of a statement with as you like. For me personally I loved this colourful update in The Body Shop's 2023 winter makeup releases because it feels like the perfect balance of versatility - natural and not OTT but with the capability to amp it up and make a statement as much as you want. Just versatilely wonderful!

The array of makeup at the makeup counter, with the brightly coloured neon Swipe It Up Lip Balms peeping through in the foreground.

I feel like subtle pops of colour and deep bursts of pigment have been really prominent in the natural makeup trends recently and there were quite a few products I got slightly excited about that I think would pair perfectly for this.

First up, the new Swipe It Up Balms. These are essentially lip balms and they're The Body Shop's new hydrating balms that will be replacing the Lip Juices. Displayed on the counter they just looked ever so exciting. I couldn't work out what product exactly they were at first but the unknowingness and their colourfulness excited me in that I feel like you could use them in a number of different ways to add a subtle burst of nourishing colour to your makeup look.

The new Body Shop mascaras, lash serum, eye liner, Multi-Tasking Pigments and Swipe It Ups at the makeup consultation point.

You've got a plain kiwi scented shade and then a strawberry, passionfruit, blueberry and dragonfruit scented option, in varying different shades. I didn't get a chance to try these on the evening so I can't say how well they would work outside of being a lip balm but I'd be intrigued to have a go! And, if The Body Shop's excellent record on product revamps is anything to go by and with the Swipe It Up's glorious hydration focus, I think these are going to make quite the exciting juicy and super moisturising replacement to the Lip Juices!

I do love a good scented lip nourisher - could these be a lip oil rival? Watch out Clarins... and Dior for that matter!

Additionally to that, we were also privy to a pair of new mascara's The Body Shop has brought out. These include two variations - a little like the Zao mascaras I've loved and talked about on here before- the Turn It Up and Natural Form Mascara. Again, they're suiting the boots of two crowds here and I love the inclusivity! Something exciting about the Turn It Up Mascara, which is their volumizing big lashes option, that caught my attention is that it's a new formula with added hydration for your lashes. It's described on their website as aiming to give this more classically heavy-duty style volumizing mascara a more comfortable feel, whilst not minimising on the glam. Intriguing indeed!

In addition to these there were also two other new makeup releases with exciting perks, these being the Edelweiss Bouncy Jelly Mist and the new Second Skin Tint. Now the Edelweiss Bouncy Jelly Mist knocked my socks off as Bethany informed us it acts as a blue light filter when applied. That's something I've never come across in a beauty product before - intrigued I was! The Second Skin Tint I believe is replacing the old BB Cream and something I was most excited about with this product was it's new formula that contains moringa seed oil for added hydration, which sounds right up my alley!

Lastly in all things new-in makeup but by no means least was my favourite product of them all. The Body Shop have just released their range of Freestyle Multi-Tasking Colour Pigments and by George did they excite me! They've got a selection of 10 neutral to bold shades, with eight being matte and two shimmers. There was everything from the sweetest of peach pinks, to the sultriest nudes and an all out classic red and a deep plum.

Excited was an understatement.

When we got the opportunity for our makeup consultations of course I chose to try the pigments and I went straight in for the plum shade Parade. I was in love. An unapologetic sugar-plum-worthy blush that had the most understated yet bold beauty. As it stated in the name, these pigments can be used all over and I recently wore the red one in my Christmas Gift Swap With Hanna. As we also explored in the makeup consultation there's so much scope to apply, blend and amplify these pigments as much as you like, whichever way you like and they are just beyond versatile! Since said blogger's event I caved and purchased six of them, all being the matte shades, and I am absolutely head over heels for them. They work as the most gorgeous classic to slightly unique blush shades and they sit so comfortably as lip pigments. Since seeing them at the event I'm really excited to try them on the eyes too and even in other ways to add a little hint of colour here and there. They'd be absolutely amazing for festival season too and the red and plum shade were just a dream for Christmas looks (if only I hadn't have ended up with covid, there was a whole plethora of ways I wanted to try them for in my Christmas makeup). Right now I think they'd pair absolutely perfectly with the cloud skin makeup trend too!

I literally noted down in my notes from the evening "I want ALL of the pigments"... and I guess that dream really did come true!

My hand reached out over the product testing sink whilst getting slathered in one of the Christmas scented body scrubs during my hand and arm massage.

Following on from our makeup consultation, we were also treated to and got to indulge in a hand massage with the glorious new 2022 Christmas scents. Once again, and I said this in last years post that I didn't know how they were going to top it and do it again, The Body Shop came out with two incredible new unique festive scents. Spiced Orange and Wild Pine where this years show stoppers and my goodness were they gorgeous. All Christmas and winter season I've been slathering myself in and thoroughly enjoying both the scents. Purchases to follow at the end of the post.

Me smiling away, having a good old chat with team member Bethany, whilst getting my hand and arm massage.  Once again, chatty away with Bethany at my hand and arm massage. I just don't know how The Body Shop do it and again, I don't know how The Body Shop will top it this year with their Christmas scents for 2023! But my goodness am I excited though!

If you're lucky enough to snag yourself a bargain still and grab any of the Christmas scents in the sale still I would highly recommend grabbing them because they are just a dream and, as noted above, I'm still loving my Wild Pine through the winter season.

Hand in hand with the festive season, The Body Shop had obviously amped up their selection of gift sets for the festive period but my goodness did they go all out. The variety this year had an amazingly vast selection of choice! Now although the festive period tends to amplify an expansion in The Body Shop's gifting and gift set ranges I've found that they do tend to stock a fair few onwards and throughout the year too and there were some absolutely amazing picks to choose from. From something for your classic Body Shop body care lover to your makeup aficionados, the choice was never ending. I love that the Body Shop always seem to do different types of gift sets compared to the usual you see too, like this year I was very much eyeing up the selection of face masks Christmas gift set and the body butter one too.

It looks as though The Body Shop are going through a little January reset of their gift sets online right now but in store, in our Liverpool One Body Shop, there always tends to be a good selection.

The amazing thing about the gift sets all year round is that no matter the season The Body Shop's amazing eco beauty perks and ideas stick all year round and this year The Body Shop made all gift set purchases a contributor to their charity of focus. Their charity of focus at the minute and over the festive period has been Children on the Edge, supporting children affected by the war in Ukraine. The difference you can make by just being a consumer of and enjoying beauty from the Body Shop just goes beyond expectations and I once again applaud them for making such an impact in the most easy of ways for customers to get involved in.

Children on the Edge are still currently The Body Shop's charity of focus and you can still choose to make a donation of choice at the till easily when making your purchases.

Just amazing.

So after an evening of beauty and makeup products galore, like a pic 'n' mix in a beauty-blogging-kind-of-dream, filled with pamper and treats, we were gifted with even more treats from the very kind Liverpool One Body Shop team and given a little goodie bag to take home. Paired with that and a very generous discount from the team, I also made a couple of purchases that I just seemingly could not say no too...

As one of the gorgeous ladies in work has reinforced in me, hydration is a must and you should always moisturise your body daily so I took that note and ran with it and felt it absolutely appropriate to purchase both the Spiced Orange Body Butter and the Wild Pine Body-Lotion-To-Oil. The Wild Pine Body-Lotion-To-Oil was once again a first for me and not something I've ever come across before but my goodness was it bloody gorgeous. It's not quite a lotion but yet still light, whilst also being super silky nourishing like an oil when smoothed into the skin. It was a love, love for this one from me and that's quite the accolade coming from a through and through body butter lover!

I think the Wild Pine Hand Balm was also a purchase by me as I didn't know we where going to be treated to some in our goodie bags. That was also a dream and one I'm still thoroughly loving and using through the winter months right now *says with it literally beside me as I write*. Though the love is clearly strong for the Wild Pine scent I'd have to say that the Spiced Orange was my absolute favourite of the two - it just felt ever so perfectly Christmas-y and being the through and through, with bells on, Christmastime lover I am it just added to my joy of the season immensely.

As ever, they were all a dream at moisturising and keeping my skin nourished throughout the day!

And that was my evening of Wishes and Wonders at The Body Shop this winter season! As ever 'twas a beauty lover's dream and I'm thankful from the bottom of my heart for the invite! Thank you so much Liverpool One Body Shop Team! Do let me know in the comments if there's anything that's caught your eye in the post. Are you excited about the new makeup launches as much as I am? Have any of you tried any of them too; what do you think?

It's an absolute joy to be back up and running on the blog again and I'm so excited to make this a regular abode for the foreseeable of 2023. From one beauty lover to another, a warm welcome and hello again to those have been here long before. I hope you're looking forward to the next posts as much as I am.

Bonjour mon petit beauty lovers, Happy New Year and welcome back!
