September Favourites | 2021

Flatlay of my September favourites, on white bedding.
Hello, hello, hello and were does the time fly to?! So we've hit mid October (there's two months left in the year which one, can you believe it and two, I swear I will have my last two favourites posts of the year up on time before the mid of the following months, I swear!), which can only mean September favourites time is here. This September there wasn't much that achieved monthly favourites status for me that I can recollect but the things that did brought me a lot of joy, be it skincare-wise or outfit-wise. If you'd like to see the odd bits and bobs that made all the fuss read on...

Blue Mini Boxy Satchel Bag

First up is something I don't think I've shared a lot of on here and that's bags. This little blue boxy number is years old but still going very strong and I still adore it to this day. This year, or this season should I say, I've noticed a lot of people sporting those smaller boxy satchel bags with their big floral dresses and pretty Autumnal outfits all over Instagram a fair bit and it gave me the nudge to start cracking this beauty out again. It's only an old Primark pick but looking after it, it's lasted very well. Even though it's Blu-Tac blue can be a little bit of a statement I've found it actually pairs quite nicely with a lot of outfits and has a nice little vintage touch to it. The perfect companion for those suited and booted looks, smart two piece sets or your current average daily Instagram 2021 statement Autumn appropriate dress.

LUSH Rosy Cheeks Fresh Face Mask

Oh when I say this has been a favourite! <3 I think if I could pick one top favourite of all my favourites this year - maybe I should do that, maybe I should make it a post or something, hmmm - it would hands down have to be the Lush Rosy Cheeks Fresh Face Mask. In all my years of Lush loving this was actually the very first time I'd tried one of their fresh face masks! Where have I been I know! So I finally traded in my empty pots and got a free face mask in return for five. I was looking for something moisturizing and soothing, just to add a bit of TLC into my skincare with the change of the season and my skin feeling a little rough and lack luster.

Can I just say, I know the staff are obviously taught to upsell but the person who served me was so lovely and very helpful so hats off to Lush Liverpool One.

The fact that the fresh face masks are designed to be kept in the fridge just made it a treat to apply and utterly soothing and calming for my skin. The rose scent wasn't over powering but just lovely and a pleasant hint, being quite relaxing unlike some of those very strongly rose scented products. Between what I can imagine was the kaolin and calamine powder, it beautifully absorbed any excess oils but would leave my skin feeling soft, supple and plump in a really lovely cared for way. My skin always look calmed and soothed after using it, less angry and beautifully soft the mornings after I used it too. It was just a dream in every way to use and made my skin really very happy. It was also really good at gently sorting out any dry patches, without leaving me feeling greasy. It's a 10/10 for the Rosy Cheeks Fresh Face Mask from me and I cannot wait to try more of the fresh face mask range now!

Utility Black Velvet Pearled Headband

Being six months post bob-cut my hair is definitely now in the slightly awkward growing-out stage, so the return of easy hairstyles has been a God send on it's slightly haphazard days. In the name of all things easy hairstyles I have been absolutely loving just throwing in a statement headband to distract and pull things together a little and it's been a really nice addition to outfits. I've been loving and wearing this black velvet pearled headband from Utility on repeat this month and I think the black velvet has a very nice Autumn Winter touch to it, that pairs nicely with those warmer, colder weather outfits. When we went out for dinner on our little trip away this September I wore it with my black velvet dress and it just brought a whole new feel to an old dress I've worn over and over again. Likewise, I've also enjoyed pairing it with those two piece co-ords and I find these pretty, chunky headbands work wonders thrown in with maxi dresses and skirts, and smaller dresses to make a little bit of a statement and add an air of this doll-like dressing everyone seems to be sporting at the moment too - which I of course am adoring, say no more!

Braided Hairstyles

Lastly and on the hair theme, I've also been really enjoying adding the odd braid to my hair this month. Again in full swing of the awkward growing out, stage I found braids a little bit of a life saver on those days were my hair just does not wish to cooperate and thinks I'd rather look like I've walked through a bush backwards in a wind storm. I've been enjoying wearing little side braids pulled together at the back and teeny tiny braids to make a little braided headband behind my fringe, whilst in recent weeks I've also found I've been able to tie it into Dutch braids, both double and single. Whilst being upmost practical and great for getting my unruly lengths out the way, I just feel like braids just have such an Autumnal feel to them and I've really enjoyed wearing them to add a touch of Autumn into my everyday ensembles too. Earlier this month I decided to film a video on some quick and easy hairstyles to add a little Autumnal into your everyday hairstyles too and I'll be sharing it on my main channel very soon! (She says having untouched the editing yet). I came up with a few little braided styles for the video and I've been enjoying going back to it and wearing them throughout the month, feeling that little more bit Autumnal as the leaves turn orange and Halloween fast approaches!

And from happy skin to happy hair, there's all the bits and bobs that did it for me this month of September!

I'd love to know what you've been loving lately and if you too have a blog and have shared you're monthly favourites do link your post in the comments below as I always love to see other's favourites too! Likewise, I'm always on the look out for fellow beauty bloggers to follow too, because when can you ever have too much beauty content? Am I right?

I hope you have a marvelous October week ahead and I'm sorry it took so long for me to post again. Nevertheless, I've made an impromptu trip to town this weekend, I am now the proud owner of half a bar cart and have turned the fridge into a small patisserie in the name of  [Halloween] blog posts to come so if that is anything to go by there's lots of exciting blog content coming this way here onwards!

If you do dare...

I'll see you in my next post.

  1. My hair is driving me a little crazy at the moment it's kind of too long so needs a cut but then when it is cut it just takes so much more upkeep - I like being able to tie it back and ignore it (unlike this morning when I realised I had a really big knotty bit! Eek!).
I love a good handbag too - have had to resort to a backpack again to carry changing stuff and other things needed to keep up with my boys lol.

    1. Oh I know that battle. I used to have hair down to my waist as I really wanted to grow it out as long as I could and ombré it (what a throwback). My hair was in dreadful condition and as the years went by I was undecided on ombré-ing it and decided to cut it and gradually went to a bob! It can drive me mad having to style it when it's freshly cut but it's so much healthier now. Haha yes, it's so true, it's so handy being able to tie it back!

You sound like a super mum! Do you remember a few years ago when backpacks where all the in thing. I actually miss a back pack. They're just so easy to throw on and carry around aren't they! You've enlightened that memory in my mind now. I might actually go and see if I can start styling a backpack into my outfits again; they're just so comfy!

    1. Aww, thank you so much Courtney! :) Aren't they just the bees knees! They're little pieces of magic. I've been adoring the headband trend. I love how they just go with any outfit too. I think I'll crack mine out again on my day off this week. I won't lie, so far I've spent the start of this week half dressed and half in pyjamas, haha. :)

    1. Aww, Amie thank you so kindly! It's a gem isn't it! :D Utility had loads in their sale. I think it's originally a Liverpool-based store but I believe they have one in Manchester too, and you can order online. I know the chunky headbands have been in every shop but I like that I got some I really loved from a smaller independent shop like Utility.

Oh honestly, as I said to Lucy, treat yourself! I haven't had one in ages come to think of it too. I'm so glad I got one; they're just a dream! <3 Currently just purchased The Body Shop Pumpkin Mask to try! First impression pending, haha.

  7. I've not actually tried any of the face masks from lush before. This one sounds lovely though. I know what you mean about your hair too, I'm in that awkward stage too. I end up tieing mine up, but within ten minutes half of its fallen out. It's so annoying.

Oh join the club too, I've been doing park run with half bits of fair falling out my braid on each side (obvs giving it beans of cause, haha), running around like a disheveled unicorn! Haha.

OH Mask of Magnaminty, WHAT A THROWBACK! That was one of the first Lush products I ever tried. I used to adore that mask. It's so refreshing isn't it? If you like Mask of Magnaminty I'd definitely recommend trying out Rosy Cheeks! I honestly can't wait to get my next fresh face mask. :D
