Well hello person who is reading this very first blog post of mine, this seems a tad odd as I feel as though I'm talking to invisible people and then I wonder will anyone ever stumble across my little blog. Anyway, seen as my blog is going to be based on beauty, make up and fashion I thought it would be fitting to start with a quaint little beauty haul. Please do not be put of by my little ramblings in this post, it is my very first and I must reassure you there will be some nifty bits of information about these products above if you read on. Enjoy!
Lush Mask of Magnaminty
Now I have quite problematic skin and suffer with some rather stubborn areas of acne, therefore I was on the hunt for something very clarifying and refreshing that would help reduce the redness and size of my pesky spots. I had seen a few people rave about this here and there so naturally I had to give it a go. The lady in lush advised me to get the tub that contained the new formula of this mask, as it contained more honey, which she said would help to reduce redness. I purchased the 125 g pot, which cost £5.25. Reason being that the mask does have an expiry date, however it lasts a good three to four months.
Batiste XXL Volume Dry Shampoo
Like me, if you are trying to wash your hair less often to keep it healthy I would recommend a dry shampoo like the Batiste XXL volume to freshen up that 3rd day hair. I was looking for a cheap and cheerful dry shampoo that could simply make my hair look fresh and non-greasy (lovely!). This product claims to transform dull limp hair to big and bouncy locks, which I can certainly say it really does do! I purchased this in Boots for £3.99 but don't worry they almost always have some kind of offer on in there. I can honestly say this is one of my favourite holy grail hair products as it really does eliminated any greasiness and leaves you with fresh and ultra voluminous hair.
Rimmel Natural bronzer
Now I believe I got this for free as there was some kind of offer on in boots (what a surprise I know, but ayy you can't complain). The only shade they had at my boots was 022 sun bronze. Now let me tell you, I am literally "the" palest person on this planet and I must say this did turn out slightly orange on me. However this would be perfect if you are looking for a bronzer with more of a orange under tone. If you build it up gradually it gives a nice flush of colour but nothing outstanding. I don't think this product does last the expected 10 hours it claims to as it was completely gone within a few hours and I wouldn't have much hope for it's waterproof-ness if it can't even last within natural air.
Liz Earl Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
Again this is another product purchase related to my somewhat problematic, acne prone skin. From an abundance of places, including Instagram, youtube, and a handful of blogs, I have heard many a person rave about this product saying it does wonders for their skin. I have not yet tried this product as I am currently finishing up my Purity cleanser. However the lady at the Liz earl counter did tell me these products can be used on all skin types and they were specifically designed for problematic skin. I purchased the 100 ml starter kit, which also includes one muslin cloth and all together it cost £14.75. Ooo and if you purchase this from John Lewis they offered my mum this sort of store card which is free and every month you get a free cake from their cafe I believe. That was what they told me so don't blame me if you don't get your free cake, I was only trying to spread some joy with free cake offers.
Chap Stick Flava Craze
I'm sorry but there's only word that can perfectly describe the scent of these lip balm babies, ORGASMIC! Yes, you read that correctly lovie, they smell orgasmic and the three flavours you get in the pack are watermelon splash, tropical twist and apple burst. Be warned those who do not like very sweet scents these could be a tad sickly for you. But for those of us that have a sweet tooth for sweet scents then I would highly recommend these. Again I have not tried these yet but in the past I have used good old chap stick and they've always done the job and they include SPF! Now these are a bit tricky to find so I would recommend getting these from Superdrug where they are a mere £2.99. Cheap and cheerful.
Max Factor False Lash Effect (non-waterproof)
The type of mascaras I like to go for are ones that give a lot of volume and length, basically a false lash look without the trauma of applying false lashes. After a mooch around in Boots I decided to give the False Lash Effect a try as the name seemed quite fitting. So far I can say I have been extremely impressed with this mascara and it is by far the best I have ever used. From Boots this cost £10.99, which was certainly money well spent.
Bourjois Java Rice Powder
What drew my attention to this vintage style powder was the fact that the product had a subtle pinky undertone, which is idea for my english rose-esque skin (very pale). On first glance it does look slightly shimmery but I can assure you the shimmer does not show on your face; in fact it gives a very lovely healthy glow. The longevity of my makeup with this powder is about average. I mean my makeup lasts much longer with the powder, but it doesn't last super amazingly longer than when I use my other powders. Apart from that I would say this is excellent for those with very pale skin and gives a delightful healthy glow. The price however was on a bit of the steeper side for the drugstore costing £9.99 from Superdrug.
Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick
I have to agree with Zoella on this one, Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks are one of my favourite drug store lippies. They are exceptionally good value for money as I payed a mere £5.49 for mine. This is in the shade 08, which is a beautiful pinky nude that compliments my pale complexion. I cannot fault these at all, they last for ages, they aren't drying on the lips and the colours are beautiful and opaque. I would highly recommend the whole range to every one.
Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Liner
This here is all due to a recommendation from Fleur De Force who compared these to the Urban Decay 24/7 liners. Now I haven't tried the Urban Decay ones but I must say the Rimmel one has been excellent for be. The product is very easy to apply due to its soft, creamy formula and it lasts all day. You can honestly do any look with this liner from cat eye, to tight line. The only problem I had with this product is that I found it quite the task to remove with both Garnier micellar water and Philosophy Purity cleanser, but that problem may well be down to the cleansers I am currently using. When I test my new cleansers, including Bioderma, i will leave a comment down below letting you know if it was any easier to remove. This product cost £3.99 from Boots.
La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo
I know this product has been raved about quite a lot this year but all I can say is believe he hype guys, because this product has changed my life.Well my skin's life, but clearer skin is very confidence boosting I must say. I am most definitely going to do a much more in depth review on this miracle product so for now I will just give you the basics. This product claims to correct the appearance of blemishes, unclog pores, refine skin texture, control the appearance of shine and fight against the appearance of marks. Basically it does exactly what it says on the tin. I would definitely say my skin can be a tad sensitive and this product has not irritated my skin at all. For £15.50 from your local boots I would highly, highly recommend this to anyone struggling with acne.
