Halloween Nail Looks for the Petrified Painters

Good day my 'spooktacular' lovelies! Recently I've really been having a bit of a rough time and I've been greatly missing all the wonderful festivities and excitement in the seasonal blogging world. Alas however I am really looking forward to sharing with you this post that has been in the works this Autumn, which is full to the brim of a variety of easy yet quirky and cute Halloween nails looks fit for every occasion! Whether you are a dab hand at doing your nails or fear a bottle of polish amidst the doom and gloom of smudges with every breath fear not and get excited to mix up your nail game this Halloween to dazzle away any ghostly ghouls, bring the fun to an everyday look or something a little  bit different to your Halloween night out look. If you would like to try any of my eerie yet easy Halloween nail looks feel free to read on for my quick and easy super speedy, step-by-step instructions!

Nail Look 1: Jack's Stripes
  • Debenhams Love & Co Nail Varnish in White
  • Colour Couture Pro Nail Art Pen in Black
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat
Starting this seasonally spooky look begin by painting all your nails with one coat of white nail polish. Allowed them to dry completely and then apply a second coat of the same white nail polish. Once the second coat is completely dry then delicately draw four vertical black lines on your thumb nail and three on each finger nail, using the ball end of a black nail heart pen. Now beginners and all those in fear of nail art alike I assure you there is nothing to fear! The trick it that you don't need to achieve perfect lines. The more crooked the lines the creepier it looks! Hooray! To finalise and seal the look either apply a coat of your fast drying nail topper like me after at least two minutes from application or wait till all nails are completely dry and apply your top coat of choice.

Nail Look 2: Dark Sparkles
  • Miss Sporty Lasting Colour in 080 (black)
  • No7 Speed Dry Nail Colour in Beautifully Black 70
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat
This look is exceptionally easy to create and so eddy but spooky, perfect for adding a spice of Halloween to your look. First paint all nails in a thin coat of plain black polish (the Miss Sporty polish). Allow to dry completely and then add a second thin layer but of your sparkly black nail polish (the No7 polish). If using a fast drying top coat like myself wait at least two minutes and then apply your fast dry top coat, allow to set for a few seconds and you are good to go. If not, wait until your sparkly black layer of polish is completely dry and then apply your usual top coat. Allow to dry completely and then you're good to go and dazzle.

Nail Look 3: Halloween Rainbow Nails
  • M&S Nail Varnish in Emerald
  • Fearne Nail Varnish in Burnt Out
  • French Connection Nail Varnish (dark plum shade)
  • Nails Inc Nail in Victoria & Albert
  • No7 Speed Dry Nail Colour in Beautifully Black 70
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat
Out of all the looks this is most definitely the easiest to achieve but still as 'spooktastic' as all the rest, with a little Halloween themed twist. I simply painted each nail a different Halloween themed coloured to achieve an eerie array of colours. For each nail paint them fully, with one thin coat of each coloured polish for each nail. Allow them to dry completely and then apply a second thin layer of each polish to each nail and either wait at least 2 minutes and apply your fast dry top coat or wait till all your nails are fully dry and apply your usual top coat of choice.

Nail Look 4: Ghastly Ghost Nails
  • Debenhams Love & Co Nail Varnish in White
  • Miss Sporty Lasting Colour in 080 (black)
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat
  • An old bobby pin (preferably with a rounded tip!)
The steps for this look are quite similar to look number one but this is an even easier design to achieve! Start bu painting one coat of white nail polish over all nails, allow to dry completely and then apply a second coat. Once the second coat is completely dry grab your bobby pin and apply some black nail polish to both its tips. Now gently dot the larger of the two tip in the lower centre of each of your first nail. Then, with a slightly lighter hand, take the smaller tip and dot two smaller black dots just above and either side of your initial big dot in the centre of your eyes. Now you should have something that looks like a little something like a friendly ghostly face! Repeat these dotting steps on all of your nails and either wait two minutes and apply your instant dry top coat or wait until your nails are fully dry and apply your usual top coat of choice.

Nail Look 5: Pumpkin Pointers
  • Fearne Nail Varnish in Burnt Out
  • M&S Nail Varnish in Emerald
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat
Who ever thought a french manicure could be so pumpkin like?! To achieve this perfectly pumpkin-like look simply paint all your nails in one thin layer of your orange nail polish. Allow this layer to dry completely and then apply another second thin layer of the same polish to all your nails. Again, allow these to dry completely and take about a medium amount of your green polish on your nail polish brush. To achieve the tips, hold your brush horizontally and simply glide your green polish from one corner of the tip of your nail to the opposite corner. If patchy repeat the same step again but this time from the corner you finished at to the corner you started at. If your green nail tip needs neatening up after this simply make gentle little strokes upwards from the base of your green nail tips to even out the line. Repeat this step on all your nails. If you are using a fast dry top coat like myself allow your nails to dry for two minutes and then apply or if applying your normal top coat wait until your nails are completely dry and then apply.

And there we have it. Five simple looks for the fearful nail painter you could give a whirl this Halloween! I really hope this post was hopeful even to just one lovely person looking for some nail inspiration and I can assure you, if I can do it you can too! Side note: nail polish remover and cotton buds are my best friend for neatening up my nails too! Oooo and please do not hesitate to let me know if you recreate any of my looks too and always feel free to tag me in a picture of them! I love seeing everyone's beautiful creativity!

Have the best Halloween you lovely bunch!
